climbing Mount Piltcher

Overlooking Marshall is our beautiful Mount Piltcher. One afternoon we loaded up the truck full of new teachers, returning teachers, families and a few students.  Up the mountain we went. When the truck couldn't climb any farther we all piled out and started up the hill. A few years ago a communication tower was installed at the top.  Left over from the instillation is a steep stone roadway.

In the distance is the slough that runs at the foot of the village and the mighty Yukon.

A fog cap had rolled in as we reached the top.

The top of the mountain was marshy tundra.  Stella loved running among the salmon berries.

There are so many plants on the tundra.  I can't wait to learn all of them.

She's about three seconds from me yelling for her to come back.

As we were climbing down Stella raced ahead and then checked back up to make sure we were still walking.

  1. How did Stella do adjusting to the altitude? What a sweet heart. Looks like a blast over there and so beautiful.
