happy birthday Eurydice!
The smallest member of the household had a big birthday. On the very last day of May Eurydice celebrated her first birthday. My aunt and uncle were in town to share the big day. Rachel, Josh, Eury and her grandparents went on an adventure up on Mount Hood. (I went to class.) What a way to spend your first birthday! There was snow.
The next day, we hosted a houseful of friends to celebrate her first year.
The morning began with a lovely breakfast with her Grandpa Tom. Naturally, he had her laughing.
Eurydice loves birds. They were pretty much her favorite thing ever before she discovered walking. Even though it's very Portland-cliche we just had to have a bird-themed party.
I made a birthday banner for the window and some other tissue paper decorations.
Duckies and annuals went home with our guests as a thank you.
Rachel made a beautiful carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, complete with a bird's nest. She also made some chocolate cupcakes for the sans-dairy folks.
Eurydice's sweet friends greeted her with love.
So did her Aunt Mimi.
The kiddos had some good play time. It was really neat to see three one-year-olds socializing. There were also two younger friends in attendance and it was a neat developmental variation. The younger kids were also a sweet reminder of how much Eury has grown.
The little lady enjoyed a wonderful assortment of thoughtful gifts. It was really nice that they were at a varying age level so as she gets older some toys that she wasn't quite interested in at first she has begun to explore.
Then it was time for the cake.
Her folks and myself gave her this little bee toy. It was a little scary and a little too big right then but she is starting to engage it a little bit more now that she is little bigger and more sure-footed.
Ever the gracious hostess, she thanked all her guests for coming.
What a wonderful event it was to celebrate. Eury brings so much fun and joy to all of our lives. She just keeps growing more and more awesome everyday. I feel so grateful to get to watch her grow.

Couldn't have pulled that party off without your tremendous help! From invitations to decorations, shopping to chopping! You're my right hand gal!
