family bike break

Tonight it just so happened that everyone came home at the same time as Dad and I were headed up town to do a little research at the library.

We enticed big brother J with the temptation of ice cream at Cooks, so he was game.  Fortunately, the same bribery worked when Zachary and Lewis rolled in the drive way a few moments later. So we all hopped onto bicycles and rode up town.

We arrived just as Mom was on her way home and pulled in to join us.

After a cone for everyone (accept me - dairy=discomfort) we sat on the corner outside Cooks watching the entire town go by on their evening activities. It is surprising how much traffic Wakarusa sees at that time of day.

Somehow Dad and I also convinced Mom and the brothers they wanted to go with us the the historical room at the library for research.

The younger brothers had a blast finding all their teachers in yearbooks from the seventies.

J enjoyed all the old advertisements and photos of what downtown used to look like.

Mom liked all the old pictures of Dad in his various sports teams.

Dad didn't find what he was looking for so I think a trip to the Wakarusa Historical Society Museum is in store.  He is looking to find any sort of pottery produced in Wakarusa by its former Native American residents.

It was a lovely evening for a bike ride and was especially lovely to with such great company. A golden evening.
